November 16th Recap

On Tuesday, November 16, 2010 James, Kuulei, Leilani, Vickie, Appolonie, and I gathered together to discuss three things--Our Name, Our Market Segmentation, and blogging. We managed two of those. (LOL, I really need to get better at determining how much time things are going to take)...But before we even got into the brainstorming, a feeling of reverence and peace was brought to the table by Leilani and Appolonie.

Leilani often comments that she always feels the spirit when she comes to our weekly meetings. Very comforting to know that we have help presiding with us, especially when so often we aren't exactly sure what we should do or how we should do it. This week, Leilani reminded us of the scripture found in Doctrine & Covenants 6:32 "...where two or three are gathered together in my name, as touching one thing, behold, there will I be in the midst of them—even so am I in the midst of you." When we keep focused on why we are creating this center the spirit will be with us, to help and guide us. Appolonie added to this by sharing some thoughts she had gleaned from her Ward Conference--drawing from scriptures found in the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 32: 3-5 "3 Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.

4 Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark.

5 For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do."

When we feast of the words of Christ we will be TOLD ALL things we should do. But what if we don't know how? Or don't understand it? Then we ask, we knock and then we will be SHOWN ALL things we should do by the spirit (Holy Ghost).These thoughts prepared us nicely to start brainstorming the name for our art center. We broke into two groups. Below are pictures of what was put to paper.

This took some time. While we didn't come to a conclusion on a name we did find some re-occuring themes that will greatly help move towards finding our name.

We didn't get to market segmentation, but we did talk about a blog. Hence the start of this today. :-)

This will be our space to start collecting and jotting down ideas...and catching a glimps of behind the scenes so that years from now we will be able to look back and see how far we have come.
